Welcome to the Florida Community Health Worker (CHW) Coalition Website!
Here you will find resources put together by coalition members that aid in the process of supporting and promoting the CHW profession in Florida.
As you know, community health workers (CHWs) have now been recognized as a critical part of the health care system. CHWs are lay members of communities who work in association with the local health care system in both urban and rural environments and usually share ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status and life experiences with the community members they serve.1 While CHWs focus on different health problems, their duties include outreach, culturally sensitive care, health education/counseling, health advocacy, home visits, health promotion/lifestyle change, perinatal care support and transportation/homemaking.
The Florida CHW Coalition is dedicated to the support and promotion of the CHW profession in Florida. Our goal is to foster information sharing and network opportunities through this website. Please feel free to share your programs and your ideas about the website.
Thanks for visiting the Florida CHW Coalition website, and don’t forget to join the Coalition!
